文章1:Titile:Samsung Launches Two AMD FreeSync 4K Monitors – PLS, 60Hz Starting At $399

From:http://wccftech.com/amd-freesync-samsung-ue590d-released/

Samsung has just introduced two 60Hz UHD monitors featuring AMD’s FreeSync dynamic refresh rate technology. These were actually two of the very first few FreeSync monitors that Samsung announced hand-in-hand with AMD last year. The models in question are the 24″ U24E590D and the 28″ U28E590D. Sporting an UHD 3840×2160 resolution, 60Hz refresh rate and relatively quick response times make these ideal for gaming.

Especially considering that both support AMD’s variable refresh rate technology “FreeSync”. You can find our in-depth overview of the technology and how it compares to Nvidia’s competing G-Sync technology here. Both models also carry MSRPs which are quite affordable. Making them all that much more attractive to PC gamers who are looking to improve their gaming experience with the crispness that UHD delivers.

Samsung Launches 60Hz, 4K, UE590D Monitors With AMD FreeSync
It’s worthy of note however that while these two models share many similarities, including the name, they are in fact very different in one crucial respect. One features a PLS display panel and the other features a TN panel. PLS is Samsung’s sister technology to LG’s IPS. It offers incredible colors and fantastic viewing angles. TN on the other hand has grown into what is now considered the ugly sister of display panels in the monitor world.

This is primarily due to its sub-par viewing angles and poor color reproduction. TN panels however remained the popular choice for use in gaming monitors by manufacturers for the longest time. This is due to their fast response times and higher refresh rates. Although as competing PLS and IPS panels have evolved and faster versions were created, they quickly began to challenge TN’s dominance in the gaming monitor market. Today you can find high resolution – 2560×1440 – gaming monitors with quick response times and refresh rates as high as 144Hz. And is it happens, relatively fast 60Hz PLS UHD monitors as well. Such as Samsung’s U24E590D.

Unfortunately Samsung has not disclosed the variable refresh rate range for either model. We’d expect something in the lines of 40-60Hz.  It’s not just Samsung however that doesn’t list this crucial piece of information for its FreeSync enabled monitors. Almost all other manufacturers neglect to make mention of it. Hopefully these companies will grow to learn that this is a vitally important spec for gamers and start to pay much closer attention to it.

Looking at the U24E590D’s specs, at $399 I can’t imagine any better or even equal UHD monitor especially for gaming. The 4ms response time is quite excellent for a PLS type panel, as often similar PLS and IPS panels are rated at a much more conservative 8ms.
Samsung has announced that the larger TN based U28E590D monitor should be available on store shelves and at online retailers in the few upcoming days for $599. However you’ll have to wait until July 24 to pick up a U24E590D. If you’re looking for a FreeSync enabled UHD gaming monitor this one is going to be well worth the wait.

Title:Acer Announces Curved 3440×1440 AMD FreeSync Monitor – XR341CK Coming In July Featuring A 34″ 75Hz 21:9 IPS Panel
From:http://wccftech.com/acer-announces-curved-3440x1440-amd-freesync-monitor-coming-july-featuring-34-60hz-ips-panel/

Acer has just announced the XR341CK, a 34″ AMD FreeSync capable gaming monitor with a curved 3440×1440 IPS display panel launching in July. If you think you’re familiar with Acer’s variable refresh rate curved gaming monitor that’s probably because you are. As Acer has already announced the G-Sync variant of this monitor back in April and showcased it at Computex earlier this month.
Acer-FreeSync-monitor.jpg

Adaptive-Sync capable monitors featuring Nvidia’s G-Sync and AMD’s FreeSync technologies solve three distinct issues in games. The first issue is tearing, tearing occurs whenever your game’s frame rate is mismatched to the refresh rate of your monitor. Which is the result of your graphics card producing a variable frame rate. No matter how fast your gaming system is it will always produce a variable frame rate. This is because some frames i.e. images are very complex and would take longer than usual to process, while other frames are more simple and thus are processed much more quickly.

The second issue is somewhat related to the first, as stuttering can occur if your framerate dips below the refresh rate of your monitor when V-Sync is enabled. V-Sync works to match your game’s framerate to the refresh rate of the monitor by forcing each frame to wait for the next refresh cycle before it is drawn onto the screen. This is to prevent two frames from being drawn at once in a single refresh cycle which causes tearing.
The third issue is input-lag, which is the result of that “waiting” period that each frame has to go through before its drawn on the screen when V-Sync is enabled.
So before variable refresh rate monitors had existed, irrespective of whether they were G-Sync or FreeSync enabled. You had to choose between either tearing and stuttering or latency.

If you want to become more familiar with FreeSync and G-Sync check out our in-depth analysis article of both technologies here.

Acer Announces Its First Curved AMD FreeSync Monitor
Interestingly enough however the FreeSync variant will be coming out first with Acer promising on-shelve availability later next month while the G-Sync variant is set for release in September. Another interesting part of this announcement is the MSRP, which is a hefty $1,099 but still $200 less than the $1,299 asking price for G-Sync variant.
This is because as you’re probably aware by now, unlike G-Sync, FreeSync doesn’t require any proprietary hardware as it’s enabled through the DisplayPort 1.2a Adaptive-Sync standard. G-Sync on the other hand requires the addition of the Nvidia G-Sync module to the monitor, which evidently adds a couple hundred dollars to the cost of the monitor.

The XR341CK features a curved 34″ 21:9 QHD (3440×1440) IPS display panel with a 4ms response time and a 75Hz refresh rate, which is as fast as ultrawide IPS panels can get these days. The IPS panel enables incredible viewing angles of 178 degrees vertically and 172 degrees horizontally as well as 100% sRGP color reproduction accuracy. Users will be happy to know that the screen has a matte finish which Acer dubs “ComfyView” to substantially reduce light reflections.
UPDATE : The FreeSync range on this monitor is 30Hz-75Hz which is fantastic for a high resolution gaming monitor and the best we’ve seen so far on a QHD IPS panel.

Acer really focused on making the experience as comfortable and convenient as possible for the user. So they included their EyeProtect set of technologies to reduce eye strain. This includes the company’s flicker-less technology which eliminates screen flicker as well as a blue light filter which will be greatly appreciated in nightly gaming sessions. Speaking of which the brightness can be turned down to 15% for those users who prefer gaming or watching content in slightly darker environments.

The monitor features a wall mountable aluminum stand that is both height and tilt adjustable and features a cable management aperture. features built-in 7W speakers with DTS Sound. Finally we come to the I/O. The monitor features one HDMI 2.0 port, one DisplayPort interface, one mini DisplayPort and one DisplayPort out. In addition, the monitor has a built-in USB 3.0 hub which allows users to conveniently plug-in their interface devices or accessories.

The monitor is launching later next month for $1,099 and is covered by a three year warranty.
